Until about 20 minutes ago – I had never heard of these guys. Just played this version of the song for the fourth time – there is another version – with an animated cartoon that is a bit more ‘poppy’. One word. ‘Love It.’ Ok – TWO !
Passed on – with thanks to : Roberto I thought I was going to like it – being a fan of both and all – maybe I’m just too darned old fashioned I wrote an email to a friend this morning who needed an introduction to Porcupine Tree. Thought I would share what I came up with. Be interested to see if there are any additions or modifications to the thinking.
FIRST READ THIS : http://www.kscopemusic.com/stevenwilson/insurgentes/ipod-destruction.html I’ve been following these guys for their past few releases. And the new one, Someone Here is Missing, is just around the corner.
And the album mini site can be accessed here: Someone Here is Missing I saw Bruce and the band open for Riverside in Amsterdam a few months back. This UK band is poised to deliver a great album that could take them far (at least further than 30 or 40,000 records). Not to be missed. If you haven’t heard their last two studio records, Tightly Unwound and Little Man, they are excellent. Also, 3000 Days provides a good retrospective on the band (as well as some alternative recordings). I caught Manu Chao playing Austin City Limits on PBS last night. It was late. I was tired. I didn’t fall asleep. Just GREAT music. And of course – because one of the reasons of reading this blog is to understand just how far behind the music scene I truly am …. I am appalled to learn that he has been around since the last 80s !!!
And listen to the concert I saw last night here Latin meets Punk meets Reggae – with a lead guitar that a lot of bands would be proud of, a horn section, rhythm to keep it going – PASSION. Nosound – reported on them before in this ‘illustrious organ’ and now – another stream is available. ![]() Their web site is here. Forgotten how I discovered this band until I saw the quotes – DUH ….
Anathema announces their first studio album of new material since 2003 (A Natural Disaster-a gem if you haven’t heard it). Mixed by Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson, We’re here because we’re here represents the continuing maturation of Anathema as a progressive rock band. ![]() Anathema began their career as a “doom metal” band and have, over the years and through several lineup changes, become a band in the vein of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and the milder side of Opeth. Strong writing, solid production, and a “leak” of four songs over the past few months promise a strong outing that could take this (relatively) little known band very far. Digital version is scheduled for release on May 30. You can get a free download of the song Thin Air by joining K-Scope’s mailing list. The album microsite can be found here -> We’re Here Because We’re Here |
