My copy of this CD arrived over the weekend. This is an incredible interpretation of a classic album. Give it a couple of more listens – if you are a “FLips” fan then this is required listening. Indeed, combined with their latest album Embryonic, the band is making a very strong and non-commercial statement. I give this album the highest recommendation.

I think this album is, indeed, a roller coaster ride. While the “Dark Side” is maintained in structure its approached in a loose, distorted fashion. One could argue it’s way too loose. But I wouldn’t agree. It’s been interpreted in an acid-drenched fashion and is best listened to with the lights off and the volume up. Hmmm…just what I did when I first heard Dark Side of the Moon: stoned, in the dark, with my girlfriend.
Someone was going to cover this album. I’m glad it was the Flaming Lips.
