315 Bowery brought back to life

Someone has gone and videoed CBCG in a 360-degree virtual tour.

So now I can relive the only musically worthwhile part of the 1980’s, living in New York going to Studio 54 and CBGB and seeing David Byrne, Patti Smith, Tom Verlaine, Blondie, Television, Johnny Thunders…

Of course, we all thought we had already missed the wave – in the late 1970′s CBGB had Tom Petty, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads on stage… hell, The Ramones were the house act there for years. Best sound in town, volume always at 11. I saw many pounds of cocaine snorted off that bar. I don’t understand why they start the video tour in the girls’ bathroom (the guys’ was MUCH worse), but it’s interesting to see the place with the lights on! You can almost smell the piss. It finally closed three years ago, but its day in the sun passed decades ago.

RIP, CBGB & OMFUG.
