I’m tired of screwing around with Movable Type: MySQL databases, cgi scripts and CHMOD permissions. I finally got the comments to work by reinstalling everything, but somehow the database wasn’t picking up permissions, and I had to re-log-in SIX TIMES to enter a comment.
Plus we were out of compliance with the new Six Apart Movable Type licensing, which only allows one author per free license. If you want a multi-user license, even for a small blog like ours, it’s about $75. Per year.
So, now that Blogger supports group blogs and comments, all the reasons I had for moving away from Blogger are gone and I’m moving us back. Plus check out the new features! You have the BlogThis button for your browser for one-click blogging, the ability to upload pictures, post to the blog via email, plus integrated comments. Via Audioblogger, you can even call and leave a voicemail that will be posted to the site as an MP3, for the next time you’re interviewing, say, Mick Jagger.
I’ll tweak the layout over the next week or two to move us back toward our old familiar layout, but for now, you’re here, so enjoy!

And the first custom mod is the collapsing comment field for each entry, as detailed in “Blogger Hacks”. Pretty nifty, says I.
